The raw food craze hits beauty
The opposite of what you'd expect an all-raw restaurant to be, Manhattan's Pure Food & Wine is sleek, modern, and decidedly uncrunchy. So when we discovered that owner Sarma Melngailis was also selling beauty products, we were intrigued; she's found new plant-based and ultra-unprocessed creams that, like raw foods, are never heated above 118 degrees. "That way you retain all the great enzymes and nutrients for your skin," she says. Our favourite (and a perennial bestseller): a light, honey- and propolis-infused moisturizing mousse that speeds healing (burning, rashes, cuts, etc.).
