A note about the Orange Oil in our formula:
Most people are not aware that there are
two kinds of orange oil - sweet orange oil and bitter orange oil. It
is bitter orange oil that can cause photosensitivity if
applied directly on skin in it's undiluted, concentrated form. We use
sweet orange oil in our sunscreen. Small amount of it that we use for
fragrance (about 2%) is safe and does not cause photo sensitivity.
According to some sources, essential oil of orange has
mild anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as a topical agent
to help calm skin inflamations and irritations, as well as itching due to
bug bites, poison ivy or poison oak.
A note about Vitamin A in our formula:
The esters from
essential fatty acids in vitamin A need to be converted to retinoic acid before
being active and photosensitive. In addition the vitamin
A in our synergistic formula is coated with peptides which further reduces a possibility of photo sensitivity. Also, please note that there are various forms of vitamin
A.
Vitamin A does
have a few benefits: it helps to protect the skin from free radical damage,
helps speeding the cell renewal process, minor burns and scrapes, and also
helps reduce wrinkles and stretch marks.
